Out of every 9 patients, who require transfusion only one gets it.So every donation matters. Every time you donate blood you help someone live, you help someone’s family remain happy.

I don't have time, I am extremely busy .... !

You can do it at your work place or you can just turn up at any outdoor blood donation camp. The donation will last only 25 minutes in all. When you arrive we’ll ask you few health related questions to ensure you’re as well as the patients’ well being, who’ll receive your blood. We’ll then take a drop of blood from your finger to ensure you’re not anaemic. If all is well, we’ll take your donation. This only takes few minutes, and after a rest, we’ll serve you a refreshing drink and a snack and you’re ready to go.

I myself don't have enough blood ...... !

Why not check out this for sure. We have a qualified medical team which will perform a conditional health check-up to ensure that you are fit to donate blood and your blood will be safe for transfusion.

Definitely not. We are committed to the goal to help the society to save as many human lives as possible and for that your blood is required. To achieve this we work in a not for profit but self sustaining manner. A reasonable charge is levied to recover the cost of blood bag, rigorous and full proof testing on donated blood and some administrative expenses, which is nominal and at par with other blood banks. What’s more we provide blood to Thalassemia and haemophiliacs and to patients admitted in Municipal Hospitals of reduced service charge to take care of people from economical weaker sections. WE NEED YOUR HELP TO ACHIEVE THIS.

What do I get by giving blood?

What if I or some relative or friend of mine needs blood?

In fact, commoner the blood group, the more it is needed. Patient also comes from the same society as you are from, Society needs all type of blood – not just rare ones like O negative.

I have already donated blood once .......

We at Kalinga Memorial Hospital appreciate it immensely. We request you to be a regular blood donor with us by donating blood three or four time a year. Many in India have donated blood over 150 times by donating at regular intervals, so can you? Our country needs people like you.

I will acquire AIDS or other disease ........

No, chance at all. The needle and bags we use can be used only once and then incinerated. You can never get any transmissible disease by donating blood.Blood centre investigates all blood units & checks if any transfusion transmitted disease is there, which are known as “Mandatory Tests”.

I am scared of needles, I hate needles ....

We understand. That is a very natural reaction until you actually make your first donation, if need be we will use a local anaesthetic for your ease but still we would like to assure you that its painless, simple and effortless, especially at your expert phlebotomists' hand. More importantly it SAVES LIFE.

It will make me weak.......

Not at all. The body starts replacing the blood volume immediately after donation and in about 24 hours the donated volume is made up. To ensure that you as donor are not rendered anaemic after blood donation, there is a period of 3 – 4 months between two donations. Why not ask somebody who has been donating regularly, believe us there are many and community still needs many more like you.
