Patient's Rights
- Right to access to care and know the providers of care. Patients will be given impartial treatment regardless of their type of primary and associate illness, socio-economic status, age, gender, sexual orientation religion, caste, cultural preferences, linguistic and geographical origins or political affiliations
- Rights to respect and dignity. Patient will receive considerate, respectful care all the times and under all circumstances. Privacy will be maintained during examination, procedures and treatment.
- Rights to protection form physical abuse and neglect.
- Right to treat patient information as confidential. Patient's information and details related to their condition will be kept confidential.
- Right to refuse the treatment. Patient has the right to reasonable, confirmed participation in decisions involving him.
- Right to Complaint. If a complaint or grievance arises about any aspect of patient care at Kalinga Hospital, Patients are urged to let the management know so that they can resolve it promptly.
- Right to know the charges. Patient will receive a copy of a reasonable clear and understandable estimate.
- Right to respect any special preference, spiritual and cultural needs. Ex: Dietary preference and worship requirements and any specific requirement following.
- Rights to seek and additional opinion regarding clinical care. Patient and family to seek a second opinion if they wish form within of outside the organization. The organization shall respect the decision or the patient and family in this regard. The organization shall allow access to all relevant information of clinical evaluation.
- Right to information and education about their health care needs. During the course of the patient's treatment, his/her special educational needs are identified. The patient/family members are educated through counselling, use of printed material, audio-visual aids etc.
Patient's Responsibilities
Respect and Consideration. Patients are responsible for being considerate of the rights of other patients and hospital staff. This includes adhering to no smoking policy with in hospital premises.
Providing information. Patients are responsible for
- Participating in health care decisions.
- Providing, accurate and complete information about present complaints, past illness, hospitalizations, medications, allergies and other matter relating to health.
- Reporting unexpected changes in health condition to the responsible practitioner.
- Paying their bills are promptly as possible and pay for health services not covered by insurance/credit companies.
Education. Patients are expected to participate in the teaching/learning process so that patients acquire and understand the skills and behaviors that promote recovery, maintain of improve function, or manage disease or symptom progression.
